 Sr. Payroll Manager & HR Shared Services

LinHR's client is one of the world’s leading automotive systems and components manufacturers. Their Toronto Office in North York, ON is looking for a Sr. Payroll Manager & HR Shared Services. It is a Full Time position which has two direct reports. This position reports to the Director, Total Rewards.

Hourly rate: 40.00 to 90.00 CAD

Responsibilities 

  • Working with HR, Payroll Shared Service Centre, management and employees to prepare and process bi-weekly payrolls using ADP system and eZLabor systems
  • Application of legislative regulations and company policies to process accurate payroll on a timely basis
  • Supervision of staff of two people
  • Responsible for Payroll System configuration and Integration to other HRIS and Time Management Applications. 
  • Reviews existing benefits packages within Canada and United States. 
  • Assesses administrative efficiency and determines where Company's stands in comparison to similar industries and makes recommendations for improvement when considered necessary.
  •  Administers bonus payouts on an annual basis, consistent with Company's Policy for Canada & U.S.  Assists with coordination for other remote locations as well.
  • In conjunction with the Director, Total Rewards negotiates the annual benefits contracts. 
  •  Advises HR Managers in both US and Canada on all matters pertaining to payroll and benefits.
  •  Implements required benefit premium adjustments, Statutory deductions, and keep abreast and communicates any changes to programs.
  •  Administers Company's Self-Insured Short Term Disability program.
  •  Annual reconciliation of tax forms and filings.
  •  Where benefit experience ratings are of concern, works with affected company(s) to reduce the ratings to ensure benefits cost control; would include involvement i.e. monitoring with LTD/STD issues. 
  • Prepares communications material for Newsletters/Dialogue so that employees understand how they impact on available benefits.
  •  On an annual basis, audits payrolls and provides documented results to senior Financial appointee.
  •  Stays up-to-date with benefits/payroll for any joint venture and non-North American companies. 
  •  Maintains files and ensures communications to appropriate personnel.
  •  In consultation with Director of Total Rewards, conducts Wage/Salary/Benefit survey as requested – both in house and outside as required.
  •  Prepares and costs out wage schedules (Canada & U.S.) on an annual basis or as required.
  • Maintains complete payroll records on all employees at all Company's Divisions, Canada, and internationally.
  •  Coordinates administration of US Benefit Plans.
  • As Plan Sponsor for 401K Plan – administrators all aspects and requirements for government filings.
  • Provides safe work practices.

Requirements

  • Minimum five years’ experience in supervisory role, in human resources administrative or payroll environment.
  • ADP WFN in the US, ADP people@work and Pay@work for Canada, eZLabor TLM would be an asset.
  • Proficiency in relevant human resources, payroll legislation (e.g. Employment Standards Act, WSIA, ect)
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP), Certified Payroll Manager (CPM )  
  • Demonstrated leadership / supervisory capabilities,
  • Ability to adapt to changing corporate priorities
  • Collaboration/customer focus
  • Expert on administrative service delivery, process design, and industry best practices of same
  • Expert on the implementation and delivery of administrative services, process design and industry best practices
  • Hands-on HRIS/Payroll implementation experience​ 
  • Diploma/Degree in business administration – human resources management or accounting
