Senior Accountant

LinHR's client - is a worldwide metals solutions provider with a commitment to innovation and sustainability and customers in the automotive, construction, appliance, food, medical and aerospace industries. The company's headquarters is in Tokyo, Japan. They are currently looking for a Senior Accountant based at their Metro town office in Burnaby, BC. The Senior Accountant will contribute to the team by providing support in accounting, reporting, payroll and analytical supports.
It is a Full‐time position. Regular Work hours: 8:30 ‐ 4:30. Compensations: 80 ‐ 95K a year with Performance Incentive Plan
Benefits: Pension plan and Extended Health.
The role's main responsibilities including but not limited to:

Responsibilities  

External Reporting
  • Complete the monthly reporting package
  • Work with the external auditor to complete the annual external audit
  • Prepare and file government reports and tax filing such as GST, PST, EHT
​​Internal Control
  • Responsible for conducting testing and preparing executive reports of the findings and required or suggested procedural changes for the departments to implement in order to strengthen internal controls.
  • May prepare Company and departmental policies and procedures to improve internal controls.
  • May review and post accounting transactions considering internal Company rules, policies and
  • guidelines and external laws and regulations.
Treasury
  • Analyzes foreign exchange position/exposure of the departments and the Company in order to determine the foreign currency position.
  • Monitors, initiates, and documents foreign exchange risk and bookings for hedging.
  • Monitors and updates LC settlement activities
​Accounting and Analysis
  • Completes the monthly Balance Sheet account reconciliations.
  • Monitors AR and Inventory aging.
  • Ensures the completeness of all accrual accounts including general, inventory and COGS.
  • Supports all department with creating ad hoc analysis and reporting

Requirements​

  • Designated CPA
  • Minimum 3‐5 years of related experience (Professional accounting firm experience is plus)
  • Experience with SAP and HFM
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Detailed oriented and able to work well under pressure.
  • Positive attitude, personable and able to handle all situations with tact, good judgment and have​ an appreciation for confidentiality in all matters.​
